ABOUT

On behalf of the academic community of the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,”
we present the idea of restoring the cyclical nature of the International Pancho Vladigerov Competition.

Driven by the aspiration to preserve and develop the cultural heritage of the great Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov, we believe that the Academy — the spiritual home of his work — holds the mission and responsibility to turn the competition into a lasting and consistent tradition of international significance.

With this goal in mind, we plan to hold the following competition editions according to this schedule:

• In 2026 – International Violin Competition “Pancho Vladigerov”;

• In 2027 – International Chamber Music Competition “Pancho Vladigerov”;

• In 2028 – International Composition Competition “Pancho Vladigerov.”

Thus, in 2029, the International Piano Competition “Pancho Vladigerov” will once again bring together pianists in the prime of their talent at the National Music Academy.

We believe that implementing this sequence will create a sustainable platform for young musicians from around the world to showcase their artistry, reinforce Bulgaria’s name on the international music scene, and strengthen the importance of Pancho Vladigerov’s life and work in the global cultural context — contributions that secure a prominent place for us on the cultural map of Europe and the world.

We hope to continue inspiring young musicians on the challenging and noble path of musical art — to participate, to create, to surpass themselves, while spreading across the world the glory of the Bulgarian music school, the name of Pancho Vladigerov, his music, and his philosophy — his thirst for perfection and his unwavering perseverance.
